A doctor told me that my bloodwork came back normal and ordered $10,000+ worth of medical tests. I was sick for 5 months and lost 30 pounds. I finally switched doctors and this doctor took one look at my old (transferred) bloodwork and saw that it was NOT normal but rather had high bilirubin and indicated a diseased gallbladder. I had emergency surgery within 4 days and was completely fine.

I filed a complained with the Texas Medical Board and after 9 months of investigating they found him at fault and they took corrective action (a slap on the wrist) for not telling me about the abnormal bloodwork. BUT they can't give me any legal advice.

How do I go about getting back that money that we paid? We still owe him $400 (after paying about $2,000), too. Do I need a lawyer? What kind?

A medical malpractice Lawyer can be found by contacting your local County Bar Association Lawyer Referral Service.

Good luck.

Find a lawyer that specializes in Health care law. There are many lawyers that also have medical degrees. I would hold off payment on the $400 left until you spoke to an attorney.

You can find an attorney that specializes in this area of law by calling your state bar association.
