I need to know what it means to be an interest and a DIYer. Thank you.

I'll give descriptions as applied to home improvements. Other fields would have similar distinctions.

Interest: You watch 'Extreme Makeover: Home Edition", but don't own a hammer.

Novice: You do minor jobs around the house.

DIYer: You do almost everything for yourself.

Professional: People pay you to do work for them.

Common sense guesses here:

Interest - you have an interest in trying the skill, but have never done it, or haven't done it on a regular basis.

Novice - a beginner, working at it on a regular basis

DIYer - Do It Yourself'er - pretty good at what you are doing, enough to do the job without having to hire someone else.

Professional - licensed, or doing that type of work for pay.
