I am going to be flying soon and I need some good books to read on the plane. I am 16 and do not like reading books over 500 pages. Any suggestions?

Twilight might be a good one, but my first thought was The Lovely Bones. It's by Alice Sebold and is told from the point of view of a 14 year old murder victim. The author has another book out called Lucky, a memoir about her rape the last day of her freshman year of college.

The subject matter doesn't sound so great. but they are both very well written.

You might consider Scott Westerfeld's series Uglies, Pretties and Specials if you like futuristic books. When you turn 16, you have an operation that changes you from an Ugly to a Pretty, and your whole job is to have a good time. But what do you give up? I've enjoyed these (have about 50 pages left of the 3rd book.)

Try "twilight" and its sequal "new moon"
Its about a regular girl and a vampire fall in love and there is a bunch of twists and turns and its just an amazing book. There is also the third book coming out this year. I think its called "eclipse" it has about 500 pages,(even though its long, its soo intresting that people just zip right through it. Im a slow reader and I read it in one day) and its about your age level too. Oh, and the author is Stephenie Meyer. (the website is stepheniemeyer.com)

There is also this good book called "life as we knew it" by Susan Beth Pfeffer. Its about how a meteor collides with the moon and the moon shift and causes a ton of bad things to happen. Its basically a survival story...its only 337 pages. Its definantly worth reading.

But overall, I really think you should read "Twilight" and "New moon"
There great!

these are all pretty new books so you should be able to find them in the "teens" or young adult" section of the bookstore.

All depends on whether you're coming back and, if you are, how long will you be away for. Visit your library and ask about short stories. These are great because you can read a full story in a short amount of time. Or, if you won't be able to return the books on time, try a bookstore or even a second hand shop. You can also buy magazines that are nothing but short stories. Enjoy your flight!!!

by Janet Evanovich:
One for the Money
Two for the Dough
Three to get Deadly
Four to Score
High Five
Hot Six
Seven Up
Hard Eight
To the Nines
Ten Big Ones
Eleven On Top
Twelve Sharp
*Visions of Sugar Plums (christmas book)
*Plum Lovin' (Valentine's Day)
(This is the Stephanie Plum series)
(* means novellas = really short!)

Also Lisa Scottoline is good. She writes mysteries usually involving a lawyer.

I've read Coma, by Robin Cook and it is good. He writes medical books, but Coma is the only 1 I've read.

So... go to your library and ask for some of these. Or, ask the librarian what she/he recommends. Librarians usually have good suggestions.

Try Harry Potter. The later books are pretty long, but the first few are shorter and I guarantee you'll get hooked!

Otherwise, if you like romance, try The Notebook by Nicholas Sparks. I read the whole book in a single day.

I suggest Guitar Girl by Sarra Manning. It's cute and fun and easy, but still a very good read. Plus, I love reading British authors because I like the slang.

flowers for algernon. It is easy to read and it captures your attention within the first chapter. Very, very good book. It is also not that long which I take is a plus.
