I am a software designer and my old job has requested me to come back. It paid more but was a longer commute with more responsibility. However, there was more chance of getting a higher position. My current job pays less with a much shorter commute but little chance of a higher postion. My current boss drive me nuts because we have to eat with her and leave at the same time. What would u do?

It all depends on what you want out of a job. If you want to excel and you want the promotions, go back. However, if you're fine with just staying where you are, less responsibilities, and it makes you happier, stay with your current job.

I personally would want to take the job that gives me the most enjoyment and satisfaction.

If you want your present job to test what is the stress threshold you can take, then stay. Usually, most people will choose go back to the place where they find it is a pleasant environment to work in. I think you are intelligent enough to solve the commute issue.

In the long term, you should work for yourself. Take a trial at http://cashgeny.com and do part time to build up first. When it is good enough to replace your job, you can do it full time at home!

I would switch back if I were you. They requested you, so negotiate a deal. Maybe a car allowance or gas card or maybe working remotely from home 2-3 times a week. that should balance out the longer commute and wear and tear on the car. Just remember...they want you. The balls in your court. Hope this helps.

I would take the promotion and go back to the old job. If there is no advancement in the current position, time to leave.

think long term. u r in a dead end that is only sort of comfortable. strike out for something better. the longer commute is a sacrifice cuz there has to be one. the bigger responsibilities are just inevitable. go 4 it! sometimes a comfort zone is really a cage

If you liked your old job, and it would be great to go back - go for it!
