They haven't lost for over a month. They play a very good style and play it well. The #5 ranking is probably a bit high due to their lack of competition. They will be one team that will be prone to an early upset in the NCAA tournament.

They maybe ranked a bit higher than they should be, but, even if you play those sub par teams, the fact of the matter is, they beat them. You talk about Florida, they lost to LSU, granted it was at Baton Rouge, but LSU is a sub .500 team. Florida also lost to Tennessee at Knoxville as did Memphis, but Tennessee beat everybody at Knoxville this year. Look at the Gonzaga game, the 'Zags had what? a 50 game home winning streak snapped just the game before, how many times have they lost 2 in a row at home and how long has it been? Games played down the stretch are so hard to gauge with everyone looking to impress and peak for their tourneys. I think anyone who can go through their conference schedule unbeaten has to be taken seriously. Memphis will more than likely be a #3 seed depending on their and other tourneys. If they roll through theirs, and other teams struggle, they could move up to a #2, but be guaranteed, they will probably be in one of if not the toughest bracket out there. You're looking right now at Carolina, A&M and perhapsWisconsin and maybe even Florida as #2 seeds.... this year looks more wide open that almost any other I've seen before in a long long spell. I usually think there are 3, maybe 4 teams that have legitimate chances at the title, this year... more like 10 teams. Winning those 6 straight games this year is gonna be a workout for any team.

They definitely don't deserve that ranking. Florida, who is a much better team is ranked right behind them at #6 which makes no sense. The gators have lost 4 games playing in a tough conference while Memphis has been playing all of these terrible mid-major teams and still lost 3 games. Memphis shouldn't even be ranked in the top 10 and yet they are ranked ahead of the reinging national champions.

Memphis student and fan! Memphis is 30-3, the same as Ohio State!!!!! They gave a one seed to UNC! WHY? Memphis played better quality basketball-Jeremy Hunt worked hard to comeback from getting kicked off, and so did everyone else! memphis was one game away from being in the Final Fpur in the last tourney-they got beat by 5 points by UCLA who was another team who I thought deserved a one over say Florida?! Memphis totally got gypped but so did alot of talented teams. But with Memphis not having the pressure of proving themselves by being (1)-they can become feeling hurters of alot of the favorites experts on CBS and ESPN say can beat them.
Memphis can definitely win if they keep saying what I heard them say yesterday on the local news about taking each game as it comes and not thinking any team is easy to defeat. Memphis has a humble enough attitude to take them far.....
I hate the fact that Mid-Major teams were left out because they have alot of good talent too.

I think the the ranking is pretty fair. It is kinda sad to say considering the team has had some terrible games. But the good does out weigh the bad. You look at highlights like Hunt scoring 25 points in the first half of the uab game....anyway this year is not the best year in college basketball as a whole. There are other teams who have high ranks that are questionable and some who are underrated. I think when it comes to voting in the ap poll, voters look at the fact that they are undefeated in the conference and the lost of d-wash, shawne williams, and rodney carney(makes you wonder what they're thinking, huh?)Not downing c-usa but I wonder where they would stand if they were in another conference.

it's true that they barely beat like one team in their conference, but they have won just about every other game by 20 or more, making their competition look like a joke, so they do deserve their ranking, but i expect nothing more than the Sweet 16 from them this year.

i picked memphis to win it all last may and i have to stick with them now because i have money on them! They have a strong bracket but ohio state does not really impress me that much and i am an osu fan. They almost lost to Penn State and they stink.

Yes. They will do well. I do not have them in the final 4 because of who they played but they clearly were the class of who they played and Caliperi is a good coach.
