Where is the safest place to walk if ice or debris is falling off high rise building? Walk close to the building or try to run into street? Just curious.

my guess is that it would be safer tight in against the building because it's unlikely that the ice would fall straight down without hitting something on the building or catching a bit of air resistance or wind, therefore moving it away from the wall. i'd try and avoid the area until it gets colder or warmer, or failing that, maybe run right next to the building if i really HAD to get out. this situation has been happening in toronto with the cn tower. the police have closed various roads depending on wind direction and speed.

if ice is falling from high rises cities will usually close down the streets near that building. no place is really safe mainly because large pieces can sometimes act like a sail if they have a broad enough surface area
