So why is it people can not tell the difference from lust and love? They may seem similar but upon closer inspection love is to silk what lust is to satin. You know you are in love if you fully surrender your heart to whom you love. If you have to be cold and wet that they would be dry and warm, you do it. To see them fed you will go hungry. If you have to sacrifice the body that they might avoid pain or injury, you do it. And you do not ask for their love back as a condition that you give yours. You will forgive any and all transgressions. Doesn't mean you have to be a door mat but you do not start hating them because they kissed another girl or she went skinny dipping with the ex. And even in the worst of it, you stand by your mate. Just like Donna Reeves did Christopher. The loss of limbs, freedom, mobility does not shake you from that person's side. You can not imagine not being with them the same way you can not imagine being without your right leg. If you feel that way about them, and they about you. That is love. Anything else is imitation, call it a super lust episode.

Lust: Is self-indulgent
Love: Is outward giving.

Lust: Temporary.
Love: There for life

Lust: Non committal
Love: Solely committed.

Lust: Done 1st before building lines of communication.
Love: Done after the ground work of communication is done

Lust: Like renting.
Love: Like owning

Lust: Is physical only.
Love: Is metaphysical and soulful. Is like a 5 course meal, never leaves you hungry.

Lust: Is like a snack cake not a meal. Is never enough.
Love: Is more than you can ask for, you are always satisfied

Lust: For the immature.
Love: For the mature.

Lust: The booty call
Love: A loving relationship that just has sex in it.

Lust: You are controlled by your body.
Love: You command your body.

Love can grow from the seeds of lust but it is hard. Once sex muddles the water, all those things that could be there or is thought to be there but really ain't can not be seen because no one wanted to give up the sex.

Love to me is looking back over my life and seeing all the care and love that I have been Blessed to recieve as well as give! It's looking into my wife's eyes and still being in love with her after over 2 decades and still feeling like a teenager. It's watching as my 2 baby girls grew up to be women and finish college. Sometimes it's a look, or touch, a kiss. But it's still love!

love is waking up every morning with a huge smile because youre thinking about that one special guy youve got to yourself. Love is being able to know what eachother is thinking without actually having to say it. Love is that feeling you get everytime you see that person, you know when you kinda get buterflies and this huge smile on your face just seeing them? Love is when you are sick and your guy brings you flowers, makes you soup and calls you every 5 minutes to say how much he misses you and see how youre doing.Love is basically the best thing you can ever have..these are my two absolute favorite love quotes.

Sometimes you have to put up walls;
not to keep people out
but to see who cares enough
about you to break them down

Being with you makes me feel like for once in my life I don't have to work so hard on being happy, it just happens.

To me, love has always been hard to explain. Obviously, love is the addiction. In fact, it does kill some people. Those are some weak and totally desperate people who see no other solution but to kill themselves FOR LOVE. Love is a feeling that requires good handling. One who can't handle it can't survive in this world. You can compare it to a rodeo bull/horse. You can't handle one, it might kill you.

If anyone says true love hit them many times, I would not believe it. TRUE LOVE comes only ONCE in one's lifetime. There is ONE AND ONLY person who's my true love and there can be NO ONE ELSE. This love will last as long as I last.

There, I said it.

I heard this on Oprah years ago, yes, let the ribbing begin, I used to watch Oprah, heh.

You 'like' someone because, you 'love' someone even though.

Well I can tell you what it isn't, and that is, "never having to say you're sorry".
People who love one another, as I do my husband, share a healthy and abiding respect for one another as human beings. We don't always agree, in fact sometimes, we agree to disagree. We don't share all the same interests - he's a nightowl, I'm a lark...but we BALANCE because we respect one another's differences...When we married, it was for that initial burst of love and common ground and background...as we matured in our love, we went through hellacious times - but always, we continued to believe in one another...So its a young love that sets a foundation for further love developing over years really. He's a bit chauvinistic at times, crude and even pompous...his bad traits! -But he brings me chicken soup and puts me to bed when I'm ill, he tells me he loves me, he knows how to say I'm sorry and he invariably "comes around" after a spell of bad behavior to realize he's sometimes a jerk when it wasn't his intention to be...

It sure takes two to look through one another - beyond the faults, the weaknesses, the folliables...and see one's heart, and realize the imperfect of humanity, but at the same time - realize that if you had it to do all over again, he'd still be the one you'd choose to spend a lifetime with...

For what it is worth...

Grace
