If you are living by yourself, you need either a lot of roommates to share living costs, or a job making more. The federal minimum wage, at 5.15/hr, has been superceded in many states by a higher minimum.

a minimum wage job is not really intended to be enough money to live on. the theory is that as a person matures, gets more education and needs to start supporting themselves, they get better jobs that pay more. granted, a lot of people are trying to live off minimum wage jobs, and i'm sure most of them aren't making it alone. good incentive for a person to get a better job!

No, you are not going to survive on minimum wage. It is impossible. Usually if you are a teenager, and you live with your parents, it is good enough for shopping.
For an adult, who has to make living minimum wage is not enough!
