I answered a question recently, regarding partial birth abortion, and I said that sick and screwed up people did stuff like that.
And I figured I'd get a fair number of people agreeing with me...
not so...
I got around 4 thumbs down, no thumbs up.
What's wrong with people?
Supporting abortion is one thing-(which I dont)-
but supporting partial birth abortion?
You might as well become a murderer.
As the case for any doctor who carries that out.
Anyone with me on this?

I agree with you completely. Unfortunately, the majority of people these days seem to support abortion. Some seem to automatically see it as a part of women's rights, which I find really disturbing. Being a VERY independent woman, I am all for women's lib, rights and independence. But it seems to me that there is more than just the woman involved when she is pregnant (besides the father of course!). What about the baby inside her and his/her basic human right to live? Provided the mother is not in grave danger from carrying and giving birth to this baby (definite grey matter and room for discussion if there is danger), I don't see how the mother's right to abort for personal and non-life threatening reasons can ever trump the baby's right to live! It is time that unborn babies were legally entitled to be born and live, since they ARE human beings, regardless of how dependent they are on their mother at this point. A man paralyzed from the neck down is very dependent on his wife or other caregivers to feed, protect and generally help keep him alive - would anyone consider him to be non-human? or believe that if someone walked up and shot him, it wouldn't be murder? On the contrary, I believe that many would be even more sickened by this murder, because the victim would have been so defenseless and dependent - as is an unborn child.

Current abortion techniques are anything but quick, painless and humane, so a comparison between (adult) human or animal euthanasia and abortion is ridiculous. Also, there is the obvious fact that a healthy unborn baby is not in pain or slowly dying, so there goes the rest of that comparison. This is a baby who has the right to be born, grow up, experience all the amazing things in this world, and maybe even do great things. No one has the right to play God and take all of that away because their convenience or needs are more important. The right to live is the ultimate right. There are many options available to a mother who does not want her baby, or cannot take care of him/her due to finances, special needs of the baby, etc., including adoption.

I am currently 8 weeks pregnant, and I already love my baby, and would fight like a tiger to protect him/her. My baby's heart has been beating for several weeks now, there are little fingers and toes, and eyes, eyelids, nose and ears are forming on a tiny face. He or she is even moving around a lot already, although I can't feel anything yet. I know that my baby is truly a human and a little person - it's a no-brainer to me. It doesn't matter whether he/she is still inside me or has been born - the only difference is whether we can finally meet each other face to face! It is the ultimate miracle to be able to create and give life to another human being. No one, besides a higher power, should have the right to snuff out the lives of these little miracles.

Abortion is one of those weird politically correct things right now. Most people don't really think, they let their church or their political party or their mother or someone else do their thinking for them. To me, there is no such thing as an absolute. I am very much against abortion just for the purpose of birth control. However, in the case of incest, or rape, or a child just barely of child bearing age, I can see abortion being the best alternative. I know, that makes me a killer, but I think destroying a child of a 12 year old girl and her blood uncle is probably a good thing, both for the child and for society. As for partial birth abortions, I am with you at least partially. I would consider this only as a very last resort, for instance, if it actually came down to a choice between the baby and my wife, then yes, take the child. I'm not Catholic, so there is nothing there to argue. I married my wife and I would want her to live, by any means necessary.

Abortion is a medical procedure. I have always held that the decision to abort, by whatever procedure, should be handled like any other MEDICAL procedure.

The doctor suggests a treatment plan, the patient (with whatever additional counseling they feel they need, including a second or third opinion) decides to go with the treatment plan (or not, as the case may be) and the treatment for the medical condition (in this case pregnancy) continues according to the wishes of the patient and medical staff (patient gets the final vote).

Alternatively, the patient requests a medical procedure, the doctor agrees that the procedure is proper for the condition, and the procedure is performed. If the Doctor does not agree to perform the procedure, the patient can seek another opinion. Once again, the patient is in control!

See how simple it could be without government intervention? Weird sh** happens when the government gets involved wwhere it does not belong.

As a male, I am sure I will never require this particular procedure, I do not "have a dog in this hunt" (my wife is beyond child bearing age).

Here are some questions for you ... if a common medical procedure would save the life of your wife or daughter, would you deny them this procedure? If that procedure would, while not saving her life, prevent her from having complications, would you deny her the procedure?

Hot d*** it's easy to sit in the stands and judge, but if it was you, or your wife or daughter that had to live with the consequences of not having the abortion (death or disability in some cases) how would YOU feel about the government withholding life saving treatment?

Speaking to "abortions of convenience" where the abortion happens at the will of the patient, without medical need. Would you consign the child to live in an environment where they were not wanted, and possibly (quite likely) abused or neglected?

Ain't no easy answers to this question, I wish there were! Outlaw the procedure, risk the life (or health) of an otherwise healthy woman. Allow the procedure, open it to uses you don't personally support.

If a person believes that it would be in the best intrest of the child to have an abortion that I feel is there decision. Even if I don't agree with them. As for partial birth abortions, I think of that little girl born at 23 weeks who survived. Now, I'm not sure at what age the partial birth takes place, but, if it is around that time or after that would be murder, not abortion. It is a very touchy issue, but partial birth, to me, would not be right, especially if the baby is born breathing, etc. I believe that there are other options available, like adoption. There are many people who want babies but cannot have them. People should look in that direction instead of abortion, but, then again, it ultimately is there decision and not mine.

Yeah I'm with you it's sick. A baby can survive at 24 weeks, and in some cases younger than that, so why would someone think there is a need to give birth to the the head, and then make a hole and suck the baby's brains out? If there is something medically wrong with the woman they do a C-section. I work with premature babies and most were born early due to complications in the pregnancy, and none of their doctors suggested a partial birth abortion. The only woman who would do that is one who didn't want the baby to begin with.

I think that abortion up to a certain point should be the right of the mother. But I agree with you about the partial birth abortion. I also agree with some of the answers that say that the mother probably wanted the baby, but a health issue comes up. I think that it is always the woman's right to choose, but I don't agree with the late term abortions. I think if a women can deliver a healthy (that includes mental retardation and other "birth defects") and be healthy herself, she should go through with the birth and put the child up for adoption. There are so many people who want to have children that can't and would love to adopt a baby that no one wants.

Abortion is not ethical anyway unless it appears to be a serious health hazard for the mother (medical reason). However, even after that some Governments allow abortions as a choice of Family Planning within 10-12 weeks of the gestation (before the heart-beat of the baby become pulsatile and the figure of the baby is not observed) so that the abortion does not put the mother and the abortionist doctor in a guilty feeling of murdering an innocent baby.

But it is really a matter of concern when a pulsatile and vivid baby is killed brutally by some doctors who are supposed to save lives. The psychological impacts of these sorts of works are very concerning in everyway for everyone related to it. No normal and conscious human being can ever support the activities of Partial Birth Abortion.

Have you seen the pictures of the children killed by pro life nuts such as yourself. They are sickening, but chances are you will not find them anywhere except in my postings. That is because they are deceitful, just as your postings regarding partial birth abortion are deceitful. For each abortion you stop, You Kill 5 loved and wanted children. So what would a thinking person do?
Should they allow deceitful people such as yourself to kill 5 kids so that one unwanted fetus can live, or should they simply ignore you.
You and people like you get thumbs down because not only are you murderers, you are deceitful. You hide your murders behind your Pro Life fantasy.
Millions upon millions of children that are already born will die this year. And rather that you attempting to save a loved and wanted child, you will instead try to save an unwanted fetus. You would be a hero if you chose to save the wanted, you are a facist for trying to force a woman to go against her will and keep a fetus. For each fetus you save, you kill 5 loved children.

I on some levels understand why one would get a little sick from the idea of late trem abortion but one has to understand that most females that get this form done have to tosome degree, the baby is horriable deformed and even if born alive it would only live a short amount of time and would be only painful. Or that the mother needs it or she would die, finds out she has a fast progressing cancer and her only change is an abortion and treatment. No I dont understand someone just waiting around and then getting one for no medical reason, that to me is murder but I can understand it when there are acctually reasons behind it.

I'm against partial birth abortion.
I think the woman should try to have induced labor or a c-section and if she will die then I suppose they must do an abortion- but I don't see how that would ever come up considering its practically a regualr labor.
the fetus will most likely die in less than a day, but its better to die with people holding you or trying to save you than having your skull opened and dying

( my cousin went into premature labor and her twins died after a few hours. they did feel some pain but they also were made as comfortable as possible and were held by their family.
so I know that is hard for premees and people around them)
