I personally believe that most women who claim to hold feministic ideals tend to pound the wardrum just for the attention they crave but aren't getting by others means. This does not mean that all feminists are like this, but I would say that most of the casual feminists have this sort of mentality.

For example, look at that Baba Yaga character; she seems to revel in the negative attention she gets from men who tease/argue with her.

Any thoughts?

Okay feminism is goverment funded with money and propaganda because of,

1. Birth control to limit population growth

2. To undo the achievments of the 1900eds when the servant class (thos who dont hold the capital in the capitalistic system) went on several giga strikes to fight for salaries big enough to permit one average family to live on one income. Obviously if you have to provide work to make a profit you would want to have as big a supply as possibel because it means you can keep the wages low. By dragging back women into the workforce you more or less doubled the supply meaning you can split a paycheck that would support a family unit over 2 worker bees.
So yeah I dont think a couple of splinter cells will do the same ruckus as the resources of the goverments of the western world.

I heavily doubt it. I'm pretty sure she doesn't; she's really just bitching because she's opinionated and doesn't know how to (or doesn't want to) deal with some of the idiots. From what I can gather most feminists fall into one or both of the following categories:

1) Are misinformed by the feminist rhetoric that permeates academia and the media, or
2) Blow anecdotal evidence, personal experience, or certain issues out of proportion.

For the most part I think feminists actually DO want equality, but they are usually too short sighted to consider what their supposition of "equality" would mean for society. You always have your radicals, but there's little you can do about that.

I'm not sure if I can answer your bold question, because the present condition has been brought about only because of chivalrous attitudes ("courtly love") in society, previous and supposedly outgoing inequalities, and the sickening impact of political correctness. If this were all reversed, the answer would probably be yes, but I'm not sure exactly how the tables could turn at this point other than through the use of legislation (which appears to have already happened and to be somewhat steadily occurring).

And people wonder why there are still feminists...

So, what, everything's equal now? We've got no cause to ***** because, hey, women are allowed to work? I mean, no matter about the glass ceiling still being in effect, and the wage gap still at the same place it was three decades ago. Don't fret about the fact that there still aren't a representative percentage of women in office, and definitely don't care that I saw a t-shirt in a major store that said "Too cute for math" (only in the girl's department, too). Who cares that one in four women will be sexually assaulted in her lifetime? Or that an insanely small percentage of rapes are even reported? Obviously, people who complain about any of that are just looking for attention from men. What, feminists just need to get laid? Nice.

Some agreement with Robinson above.

I am not ashamed to describe myself as a feminist even though this is an explicative in the country where I live (Czech Republic). That said, in my feminist view, a true feminist would also be a masculist as described in the Wikipedia item you cite. And indeed, always at the forefront we can look to the Scandinavian countries for gender equality:

- in Iceland new mothers AND fathers get parental leave. The mom gets three months off for herself while dad works, dad gets three months off while mom works, and then either mom or dad can take another three months off (I guess they can flip a coin)

- in Sweden and Norway, fathers are given 12 and 8 weeks paternal leave, respectively.

The Czech Republic is a socially benevolent country so believe it or not, I have been on maternity leave since 2002 with the end slated for 2009. My husband, however, has received no leave. Some of the very top-notch progressive employers give their male employees some parental leave as an incentive, but they are few and far between. This practice is unfair to men and IMHO also continues prejudice against women in the workplace: it is common practice to not hire women who have small children, as it is known that if they get sick, she will be the one who will have to stay at home to take care of them, or women who are under 40 and married, as it is suspected they will have children soon and go on maternity leave (4 years). So if women want to be treated more equally, new dads should get time off too (while the moms return to work).

As regards the other issues mentioned in the Wikipedia link, true feminists would have to also agree with no discrimination when it comes to the military draft and no gender bias in child custody decisions.

I should add that it is a shame that men in America are a little wary about holding doors for women and seem to be surprised whenever I thank them kindly! What Robinson refers to as "chivalry" above is simply respect, something that every man and woman deserves. I hold doors if someone is walking towards the doorway, too, whoever it is (okay, one exception - staggering drunks on their way in). No one deserves a slam in the face (and no one deserves having to throw a drunk out of their store).

The objective of both the feminist and masculist should be treatment that is not based on presumptions about gender. So I guess I am a masculist. Go for it, masculists! Paternity leave! Yes!

For the tables to " be turned " you would have to posit a different species of primate.
