I don't agree about "annual and perennial" Hibiscus. The two kinds of Hibiscous I know are both shurbs: Hibiscus rosa sinensis and Hibiscus syriacus. The first is evergreen but frost tender. The second is deciduous and tolerant of most winters. If it's a H.r.s. and has no leaves it might be dead. If it's a H. s. and has no leaves, don't worry. It will come back.

Scratch a branch with your fingernail to see if it is still green inside. If it is, it's still alive. You can do that with any plant.

Good luck :-)

There are 2 kinds of hibiscus. Annual and perennial. The annual will lose its leaves when it dies. They are meant for house plants. The perennial loses its leaves and goes dormant for the winter.Which kind do you have? If you spent more than $10.00 for them, I'm GUESSING they were annuals, which means they're gone. I have 2 hibiscus in my back yard. I live in NW OH, and today the temps are 15-20. Hibiscus, around here, are the last thing to appear. They won't show there faces until late April, or early May. By the way, my 2 are Lord Baltimore's, and grow 10-12' tall.I paid $7.99 for them.

If it is a tropical woody type of Hibiscus which it sounds like it is, then it is simply dealing with the shock of having been moved indoors and into a warmer and dryer environment. And no they do not go dormant. Make sure that it is placed so that it gets plenty of light, water, fresh air, but not in drafts of any sort and it should do fine. This sounds like a temporary situation to me and should resolve itself in a month or so at the most.

Plants or shrubs. Don't know about plants but shrubs die off in winter and bud in late spring then flower late summer autumn. That's in Scotland
