When the mechanic quotes the job the removal of the engine and fitment of the engine till running should be included in the price make sure you fully check this before getting the job done make sure you get a WRITTEN quote not a verbal quote also be warned that they may call you whilst doing the job and tell you there is extra costs make sure that they quote changing all hoses and belts and all oils and coolant also that they quote radiator removal and flushing. If the mechanic is good they will do all this and then fully road test the vehicle until they are certain that when the keys are handed over that it will not break down..

The time allowed to replace an engine includes removing the old one. That is part of the job. Don't get any bright ideas to remove the old engine yourself as it will cost you more in the end. It then becomes a by the hour job. Where is this, where is that, what did you do with the thing am a bob. Thirty years pulling wrenches and managing shops. Been there done that.
