I am writing a short monologue on a person who chooses not to believe in any religion, but its back in when religion was not an option, in greece in like 300 BCE How can it improve, what can I add?

Why do we act this way? Us humans, worshiping immortals and changing our ways to please them. Should I believe this nonsense? To be dragged around by this religion! Its unbelievable. I don’t have control of my actions or even my way of life. When I do something wrong why does that cause the gods to punish me or make me ill? Why don’t other Athenians feel this way? It’s absurd! I want to and I will be able to run my own life, so I will rebel! Against all the believers and their troubled minds! Show them that no longer should we be slaves to these gods. Pushed around by a fake idea… disgusting. As a child belief was so simple, it explained life to me. Everyone needs their minds to grow up just as their bodies. Grow up as I have, with a new understanding.

"Are you lives really so troubled, so lost that you need so much direction? Do you really find it so hard to be good, and do good that you must have these scripted rules to follow? Is you vision of right and wrong so obscure that you must have clear guidelines to help you stay on a path where you can live with you conciouns as a human being? Do you not have the courage to look within yourself and recognize your own flaws, find you own strength and power to change them for the better, and thereby through this process truly change, instead of just turning you back to what you do not like to see and just embrace preset guidelines and dogmas that only force yourself to suppress what you are for better or worse and change nothing except the symbol as to which you bow you head. Don't ever close you mind! Don't ever accept anything for the final truth! And no matter how old you grow don't ever loos that amazing ability, that which is most visible in a child, the ability to see this wonderful world with new and open eyes every day!"

Ehhh hope you can use it, just off the top of my head. Have fun writing you monologue!! :)

You could add in how he is tired of hiding. You will also need to add in that he is willing to give his life to express his belief of not believing. For in 300BC, he will surely be slain (probably very horrifically, too).

You may want to expand on why he doesn't believe anymore. Did he overhear the priests talking and laughing about the mindless sheep who are supporting their lifestyle?

Eileen- please!!!! It is a school assignment!

I really feel bad for you, without God i could not function. He is the base of life, he died for you and you still question him. Just try preying for once, you will find peace and new understanding if you give it a try. Trust me, God is the person that loves you the most on this earth and he is just waiting for you to love him back!
