Singing on key requires LISTENING. This is one of the hardest aspects of singing, because it means you have to evaluate what you've done and make a conscious effort in improving it. The best way to hear yourself is to go into a space with a ton of reverberation, like your bathroom. You can also cover one ear (like those divas always do) so that you can hear yourself better. Try singing with a tuner (they can be purchased at any music store) or recording yourself singing along with a favorite song and compare your tones (keys) to the lead singers. Good luck!

Im in honors chorus at my school. Yo sing on key, you have to find the right notes. You would start by finding Do by looking at the key signature. Do is at the second to last note. Thats how i do it, and it works if you know do re mi pretty good. Maybe the link in the sources will help you.

singing out of key and stale the beat are the two difficult for us band individuals. on occasion the band can get better if the singer got here right into a verse too quickly. yet often it throws us into chaos. and often people who sing off key genuinely have a detrimental experience of timing. regrettably those persons are actually not musicly proficient inspite of instructions. I genuinely have perservered in ineffective many circumstances in the previous, in the wish a singer will strengthen to no avail.

It means you are not singing in the same key the music is in. If you can't pick up on it on your own, you will need a vocal coach to help you learn. And, not to discourage you, but some people never get it. It's not their fault, it's just that they are born not being able to hear certain tones.

If you have a piano or keyboard, you could hit a key and keep on key with that tone. That's a really good way to know exactly what it should sound like.
