No, it takes a lot of money to put on big shows and producers that have that sort of money, found out that they get a bigger cut if they put groups together. Many major bands today are probably put together bands with fake or no histories. Also producers don't want to touch rock bands because of all the piracy and they can make as much money from one singer or rapper than they can from a good quality band.

I would say the four best bands from the U.S. right now are The Mooney Suzuki, The Von Bondies, Jon Spencer's Blues Explosion (I think now they are just called Blues Explosion) and Actionslacks.

I think music has to under-go a big change, as in not Green Day one week - then everyone hates them, then an equally bad band like Simple Plan comes out

Honestly, I like rather obscure underground bands (just seem to be more sincere, and have a better sound for me) but I like some of the legends too, I love The Rolling Stones, U2, Nirvana, Neil Young, AC/DC, Guns 'N' Roses, and many of the other "legends"

I also love some subcultural legends like Bauhaus, Sisters of Mercy, The Cure, Siouxsie & The Banshees, The Cruxshadows, and many other bands

I also like the "unknowns" to the mainstream music industry (i.e. The Cruxshadows, KMFDM, VNV Nation, Deathstars, E Nomine, Ego Likeness)

Heh..I consider myself an audiophile - I love almost all music

Reaching a status of the likes of GNR will be almost impossible. They ruled the world before they broke up.Bands today although big and sell tons of Cd's don't have that same status.Axl Rose is still selling out concerts around the world with the new GNR.He's been all over Europe and North America,Japan and so on and I don't think has had a tour date that didn't sell out yet. He's still the man and there will be another band like them coming soon but it will be tough.

Definitely not anytime soon. I really would doubt it if there ever was another one, or even a band that rivaled the international greats like the Beatles and Queen and Led Zeppelin.
