A tall tale, a short story or a big, fat lie?
Is it ever a good thing to be lied to? Is the awful truth really that important to you?

a short story..... i prefer people to just get to the point. i think that there are certain times when being lied to can be preferable to the truth..... for example, when i'd just arrived home from the maternity unit after giving birth to my son, the first thing that my a*se hole of a brother-in-law said to me was 'are u sure you've had the baby ? u still look pregnant ! '..... that's just typical of him though - he's one of those people who will say whatever he is thinking at the time, no matter how rude or hurtful it may be.... sometimes people already know the 'awful truth', and the last thing they need is for some prat to make them feel even worse than they do already !

Anything in story form is good. I love to be lied to if I am asking for it. It's practice being fictional for a while... I need it to recharge. And as your relation Coyote would probably tell you, the trickster can teach where the serious professor fails to pass on the message. Each serves it's own purpose. The awful truth has a way of telling on itself if we actually listen.

I guess sometimes(depends on situation) a tall tale ...at least you know its a tall tale and its usually amusing......but the truth is very important to me as well

there are lis & white lies.
personally I hate lies because the truth always gets out in the end but if its just innocently to cheer someone up for a while then a little fib wouldn't hurt.
