So I am having this on-going issue with a neighbor of my apartment complex. For some reason she can't seem to park in her own spot and it is driving me crazy! Last night she parked her front tire completely in my spot and it finally ticked me off so bad that I had to do something. I get home before her from work and I decided to park closer to the line on her side. Just enough room like when you park at the mall. I wrote a note and taped it to the inside of my window saying "Until you can learn the park in your own spot, this is how I will be parking!" Keep in mind this isnt the first time she has done this and she has been talked to by the Apt. Manager but it still is an on-going thing. I know it seems childish but I have no other way to get my point across.....what else can I do? and do you think I did the right thing?

you do have the right to park in your spot as close to the other persons spot as you wish. however this may just perpetuate the conflict. i however have no suggestion of a better option as i would make the same decision.

All you can do is talk to the manager, get her and the manager together and talk to both at once, and or move. One hand, you're just renting and so is she. On the other hand, parking spots are reserved and should have an apt number painte on them. I used to live at an apartment complex at which, each spot had a number. Suggest this to the managers, if it's not already being done.

It's a shame you have to stoop to her level. Go back to the apt. manager and ask if the vehicle can be towed, I know most buildings have signs threatening to tow unauthorized vehicles, why not make use of it? Or how about parking in her space entirely? Tell her she can have yours because she likes to park there!
And finally, why not post some signs large enough to be read by the neighbors, something insulting her parking prowess?
This is a person who is so self absorbed that the comfort of others means nothing, but hers means everything, so make her uncomfortable.

Why can't you go to her apartment and talk to her like a civil human being? Try that next time first instead of taping childish notes on your windows. It's likely she doesn't pay attention to how she parks and since you never told her directly, had no idea it made you so angry.

It might be a better option to have the management company move one or both of you to different parking spots. At this rate you'll be lucky if she isn't putting dents into the side of your car.

I would let her park in your spot, then at the end of the month I would send her an invoice for her use of your spot. Nothing big, say $50.00. If she refused to pay tell her you are going to take her to small claims court unless she agrees and promises to never park in your spot again. And if she parks there again, file your claim.

Take a look at easements.

Sounds like "manager talking" time was non-productive,
Now it is time for "manager action" - like revoking her parking privileges or being towed until she can learn to function.
Push the manager to take action . . . that is what they get paid for.

Next time have the manager yow it away, several times of that and I am sure she will get the point!

involve the police if your manager will not resolve the issue. don't retaliate it can go bad for you.
