Can anyone give me a summary of what Bleach is?

All my friends watch Bleach and I want to know what it is about, who the characters are, and where I could watch it or see it in the manga.

Bleach follows the story of 15 year old kurosaki Ichigo who has the power to see ghosts. One day, a soul reaper named kuchiki Rukia came in his town to fight hollows (strange monsters that feed on souls and are not visible to people regularly). She lost to a particularly strong one and gave her powers to Ichigo and he is now a soul reaper. A month or so later Rukia gets arrested for giving her powers to him and is taken back to heaven for judgement. He follows her with a bunch of freinds (chad - a loyal companion who is extremely muscular, inoue - a girl who lives alone and has a crush on him, ishida - a rival and the last surviving of a warrior race, and yuroichi - a talking cat with great wisdom). They free her and unveil a cruel plot in the meanwhile (spoiler ends here).
I highly reccommend it.

the anime is about Ichigo Kurosaki, and he's a part shinigami(soul reapers ex.death) and part hollow(evil mutant spirits w/ masks) the first 15 episodes are boring, it shows some of his past and what-not but it gets better from there

Bleach is about this guy ichigo kurosaki, who is able to see ghosts or spirits. there are normal spirits and then there are hollows which are bad spirits who couldnt get to heaven(soul society). they are mosters with holes as hearts. when ichigo's family is in danger, a soul reaper from soul society named rukia gives ichigo her soul reaper powers to save them all. ichigo later learns how to use his powers. ichigo goes to school with chad, ishida (a quinci (person like ichigo but uses a bow and arrow to exterminate hollows(ichigo has a big sword))), and orihime. chad and orihime got their powers later on in their life probubly because they know ichigo. chad gets an arm with a lot of strength and orihime has a shild, healers, and a knifey thing that she can reject when she says the magic words.

rukia gets in trouble for giving away her powers to a mortal so she is taken back for her execution. ichigo loses his burrowed powers and gets his own. to get his powers he was thrown in a pit as a soul for 72 hours. he could have became hollow, but he became a soul reaper with half of a hollows mask. now the 4 and a talking cat go to save rukia!

in soul society they fight with many soul reapers and meet a soul that helps them. he is gantu. they also fight with rukias childhood friend, renji and many captains. but they learn there is more to the execution then rukias problem. evil captains are planning somthing big....
