Having a stuffy or runny nose is a common symptom in pregnancy, but normally affects women around week 20. Basically, the hormones can cause the blood vessels in your sinuses and nose to swell, giving a feeling of stuffiness or runniness.

I'm 13 weeks pg and I've had a runny nose pretty much since the start of my pg. I had it a little with my first pregnancy but it's much worse this time round. It's definately at its worst in the morning - presumably because I've been lying down all night. By midday, it's normally cleared but reappears the next morning. I've been having a lot of nose bleeds as well, which is a\lso connected to swollen blood vessels in the nose. But I'm not complaining - I haven't had any other symptoms at all!

I understand what your asking, you obviously know the symptoms, and just want to know if runny nose is one of the symptoms. Cold like symptoms, and flu like symptoms can possibly be signs, but you should not take them as "Oh I'm pregnant" but pregnancy can infact had cold and flu like conditons such as runny nose. Other weird symptoms? Hmm.. I don't think its really weird but there is a feeling where you feel like you have to faint, and lightheaded, but that don't happen with everyone, and one that not many know unless you take your temperature, it goes up a little notch. Goodluck

I think the fact that she wrote here means she knows she's pregnant... Give her a break you guys.

As for the runny nose thing, I can't say that was a symptom I got... The weird thing I got is I could not eat yogurt to save my life. And prior to being pregnant I LOVED and couldn't get enough of the stuff.... 12 years later, my daughter STILL hates yogurt so there you go, it was all her... Now me, I don't care for it much anymore either... Probably side effects...

One thing I can also say is when you're pregnant you get colds easier, at least I did...oh and allergies... why? murphy's law. You cannot take jack sh...when you're pregnant and murphy says you'll be miserable so there you go.

A runny nose is normally a symptom of the Common Cold - I`ve never heard of it being an indicator of pregnancy - I must be three weeks pregnant myself if it is LOL.

I had sniffles during early pregnancy with both of mine, and was told by my obstetrician that it's a common phenomenon in early pregnancy. Nobody knows exactly why, but symptoms mimicking a headcold are a common "syndrome" during the first trimester.

I also had a few really odd headaches and a continuous craving for foods I woudn't ordinarily care for, such as oranges and plain yogurt.

it's NOT stupid! Yes, it is a fact that your nose & sinus' can swell and become inflamed when you're pregnant-- just like that OTHER part of your body with the mucous membranes that swell. this is the reason why people often make comments about a woman's nose changing when she's pregnant.

I wouldn't think so on it's own-- but my sinus' got reeeally bad right from the beginning of my pregnancy.. so yeah, it can be one of the symptoms. other weird things that happen??-- tired, moody, clumsy, forgetful, a straining, kind of painful feeling you get along the bottom of your stomach when you sneeze or laugh... sore breasts, when my belly started to grow, my belly button actually hurts after a big meal from being pushed out.... ooooh, there's tons of weird things that happen!

Never heard of a runny nose being a symptom! Within 48 hours of being pregnant my breasts became sore, I needed to pee more than normal and tea and coffee started to taste metalic.

Apparently pregnancy commonly effects women's sinuses in this way. Also needing to wee constantly - even at the beginning - long before the baby is big enough to put pressure on the bladder.

I got a really bad cold as soon as I got pregnant but the main symptoms I had was lack of appetite, nausea, extreme fatigue and very hormonal. It's all worth it though!!
