I was 18 at the time and the girl was 14. They charged me with child molestation although the girl was sexually mature and could have passed for 15. Before this thing happened, I was getting my life together and was accepted into the nursing program. But due to the circumstances, I declined the acceptance into the nursing program. I know that nursing is my passion and want to know if I'll ever be able to return to this field.
I know that sex crimes are quite political at the moment. I do have quite a bit of knowledge of whether or not I could get a nursing degree and get a job, but I don't have anything solid. My feeling is that I can't do it at this time, yet, but I want to remain hopeful.

MOST felonies prevent you from getting your nursing license. It all depends on the state that you are trying to get your lsc. in.
I would go talk to an attorney and try to get your record expunged.
will cost a bit, but then it is like you have never had a record!
Check the guidelines in the state you want to practice in...ALSO, soome schools will not let you get into the nursing program with a felony conviction.
PS. a 14 or 15 year old girl is NOT sexually mature, she is still a child! Getting pregnant at this age is really hard on the child, and over 80% of all birth result in a low birth weight. I was a 16 year old Mom..who thankfully had alot of support, but I was still just a kid...

Some poster above can't read. You weren't convicted of statutory rape...it was child molestation.
You can get your degree in Nursing...providing a college accepts you. As a registered child rapist, I would hope that any college would refuse you acceptance based on your demonstrated lack of ethics and morality. And to be more legal, you are a convicted felon.
And even if you do get a BSN...no one will hire you. No hospital on Earth hires a registered sex offender to work in nursing. Or any other position for that matter.

Oh, come on... all of these people who are judging you are just dumb. it's obvious that you've already been punished and just want to get on with your life.
I don't see why you wouldn't be able to be a nurse, but just in case, check with either an attorney or the local records room- they should be able to tell you if Statutory Rape charges can be expunged in your state. If there is a problem, you can still work in the medical field, just maybe as an LVN or, as the man above me suggested, in radiology or lab work. Keep hope, if you have a passion for the medical field, you'll find a way in.

I think that it would be difficult for you to pay for cost of the Nursing program without benefit of Federal & state loan funds and I don't know if you have to Register as an Offender and if you working in a hospital setting would be accepatable

well first, u shouldn't mess with kids that are that old. second, yes u still can get a liscense and a job. but u will prolly have to settle for lpn. cuz rn's have to do a rotation in maternity and peds. and being a ped, u can't get near kids. but, depending on what ur charge is, after 10 yrs, some charges no longer stick with u.

You *may* be able to get a degree. But actually working as a nurse I doubt very seriously.

I don't believe anyone would stop you from becoming a nurse, but gaining employment as one after you've completed the required schooling may be impossible.

You might have difficulty working in patient care -- but you could get a different kind of health-related degree like laboratory work. This would be similar types of studies.
