Why do they use sterilised needles for death by lethal injection?

First of all what if the guy being killed would somehow fight back and the person giving the injection would get scrached?

Also if we used needles and would pass on some serious thing (virus/bacteria/who knows what) to the person, even thought he is toast in seconds, his body is going to contain it, the corpse might help that certain "thing" live and spread. There are lots of organisms we don't even know of.

This has been asked and answered a lot of time already!

Because there is a chance that staff may scratch themselves whilst handling them. A simple health and safety precaution, no deep irony. Also, where can you buy unsterilised hypodermic needles these days? They come in pre-sealed, sterilised, dispose after use packs!

What, would you rather they keep boxes of dirty needles on hand just for death sentences? Any pain caused by the filth on that needle could conceivably be claimed as a cruel punishment, in direct contravention of the Constitution. Who knows, some jackoff lawyer might be able to pull it off on a lower court..
