I know some of you are going to come back with remarks about me, but this topic is big to me. People don't care about themselves.

No, ignorance really is bliss. Take it from me, the more I know, the less I know, and the more wuestions I understand. I twould benice to just breathe.
And I know someone with three kids, who says the best-adjusted adult was the simplest and least smart in school. BUt the happiest, and most sure of himself!

Ignorance is not a virtue, simply a lack of life experience or one ignoring what they should have learned; there is nothing Virtuous about it.

I think people care more about themselves than others; I think as a species, we are self centered and this is the root of the problems we creat; being self centered we fail to see what choices we make effect others as we are thinking about ourselves.

Ignorance may produce bliss, but a higher happiness can be found in overcoming it and finding yourself happy and educated. Ignorance therefore, as it's meant in this question, cannot be a virtue. The quality of ignorance may lead to a level of bliss, but not a high one compared to what is obtainable, and therefore to me falls short of the virtue title.

It's not a virtue at all. But most people seem to be ignorant (not stupid). Sometimes I'll say something that I assume everybody should know and you get people who have no idea what you're talking about.

I can't speak for the whole human race or even about most of it.

All I can try to do is to resist, as much as I can, giving way to this tendency.

And that keeps me so busy that I don't have time to waste carping about others.

It's impossible to not be ignorant, there is so much going on in the world today that you can't take it all in so you have to ignore massive issues, whether it's global warming, african genocide, homeless people all over the world, abuse in marriages. everyone is ignorant to some extent.

you need to read the dictionary...ignorance means you have "no knowledge"...stupidity means you "have knowledge" and do not apply it
