It has to do with him singing about loving a woman but her being in love with another man..The loving another man part is in the chorus.. Sorry I do not have more to go by,but I am sure you true Rod Stewart fans will know it!

His previously works are great alongside w/the vocals he provided for the The Jeff Beck Band & the Faces. His later stuff in simple terms did not do something for me yet take exhilaration in the instruct and that i'm specific Rod the Mod would be great!
