It's different for everyone.

Personally, sculpting is harder for me. I enjoy painting a lot more and find it a lot more easier to do.

I am an artist myself... and I have been at it for about 10 years. Honestly... in the beginning, i found that painting was the hardest for me. Now... i would have to say sculpting is the hardest for me. You are right abou the painting and how you have to find the right colors. Painting is all about the colors you use and the technique and brush movements that you use. It depends what ur painting when you decide on what colors and brush movements you should use.

Now... i paint good and drawing was always my strong point... so i'm good in drawing. I used to be ok in sculpting... but now... compared to my other things... i suck at sculpting!!! LOL! You just gotta keep practicing... Drawing especially! So... have fun!

It totally depends on the person. My mom who I never thought was good at anything surprised me by molding a duck in a matter of seconds when I had been struggling for a long time. Drawing seems the easiest because most of the time you can easily replicate what you see. As for me, I find painting the easiest. I just like how unstructured it is and it is hard to do the wrong thing because the canvas usually paints itself and I just move the paint around.

Like the others said, it really depends on the person, but I would have to say overall sculpting because there are more technicalities to consider if you're talking about clay. You have to have knowledge of how to use it, how to mold seperate peices together properly, you have to worry about it drying before you finish or make additions to it if you do, you have to prepare it properly and make sure there are no air bubbles or it will blow up in the kiln. Like drawing and painting you have to think about form and shape, and it's harder to look at something and make it three dimensional verse drawing it. I have seen quite a few people in college know nothing about light, shading etc. but yet they can look at something and draw or paint it pretty well.

Personally I would have to say that painting is the most challenging for me as well. Illustration and sculpting is not as difficult. I think that the paint brush has a mind of its own at least in my hand....................it doesn't matter what medium I use, watercolors, acrylics oils................. it's all the same.
