Tell your dad the truth, about what happened, he may not be happy with you for lying but he will be glad that you told him the truth. Don't make you own situation worse by being immature and not stepping up to the plate and being honest. Tell him you are sorry for lying to him, tell him you got scared because of what your friend did.

Don't screw the computer up, that's only going to make matters worse. Your dad can take it to a computer store and it can be restored to the way it was.

Tell you dad how sorry you are, tell him you will do chores to pay to repair it. Talk with your friend as they should pay to fix what they did, this person had no right to mess with your computer in the first place.

Your friends parents could be held responsible for doing this to the computer.

But be totally honest with your dad, he isn't the enemy he is your dad and he loves you. Show him that you are a good honest person, and that you didn't mean to lie, you just got so scared.

You want your dad to always be able to trust you, this is the way to start being a person whom he is able to trust. He will have more respect for you if you tell him the truth. He may get mad but he will get over it in the long run.

Your going to lie, are you kidding me? So what if your brother can fix stuff, big dang deal. Karma is going to get you in your backside and it will get you hard, for lying to your dad.

First of all... good luck.

Second.... check if you have a restore function at your boot up. If you start the computer and hit F11 (Usually preceded by and "Enter Setup...F11" prompt -- it goes by very quickly), you might be able to factory restore your machine.

Third of all.... Good luck.

What's wrong with having XP anyway? It's a better OS than any previous OS.

ok what you do is you can stick your windows back in and delete the partition but if you reformatted and wasnt suppose to put a screw on the mother board and you computer is now broken but i would just tell him straight up and say my friend did it and if your friend really did it he will proly say he did if not tell your friend to say he did and say i didnt know he was suppose to i did that to my bro once

Magnet will turn it into a RAW HDD like no formatting at all just a metal disk with nothing on it.

Don't lie to him!!! If you lie, and he comes home and thinks its broken, and sends it to be fixed, and pays for it , he's gonna be even more pissed...
Tell him the truth, and that you are really sorry it happened, and you were scared and that's why you said it was broken..
