Where is the most amazing place you have ever been, and why was it so good?

Lots of great places I've been to, but one of the most amazing was a little town called West Bend, Iowa, and the "Grotto of the Redemption." In the 20th century, a local priest felt he was called to create a grotto dedicated to St. Mary and he started building it, using seashells, semi-precious stones, minerals, petrified wood, stalactites, fossils, etc. It grew into an absolutely amazing place, a series of little rooms and chapels and passageways, all made out of this collection of stones and shells. It sparkles and shines and it's almost too much to take in.
You really don't have to be a religious person to be completely wowed by this place. I've tried to find some good pix here online and most barely convey anything like the full impact of the place. Some of the best are at the URL below. But if you're traveling through the heart of America, I highly recommend a stop in West Bend, Iowa. You'll need a couple of hours, at least, to take in the Grotto.

Whitehaven beach in the Whitsundays, Australia - constantly rates one of the best beaches in the world, isolated island with brilliant white sand.
And best snorkelling/diving in the world!
