...and it says that I should be a detective or a food tester.
Are these results important, because I don't want those jobs at all.

Those aptitude tests are horribly flawed. It's practically impossible to determine what career you're best suited for by answering just a few questions. Ignore the test results, and do what you want to do :)

The tests indicate that you would be good at a job where you need to discover or find out something, or try out something.

If you don't want to catch criminals or evaluate food, perhaps you would enjoy being a researcher, reporter, or archaeologist. Maybe you love to discover nature. Do you find, for example, that you love to uncover the facts or ponder a mystery (not necessarily a Hardy Boys/Nancy Drew mystery, but maybe the mystery of life)?

That said, yes, you should pursue the career that you want. However, that test might be telling you something. If it's not indicating a career, maybe it's indicating a hobby or avocation.
