Yes. The middle child is often referred to as the lost child. Often the middle, or lost, child receives less attention than siblings from the parents. Thiscan lead to self-esteem issues, among other things.

OH! yes it sure does! I am the middle child! One older brother and one younger brother. I was the only girl. Mom always talked about her boys but I was the one who was always there for her! My Dad never thought I was as smart as my brothers. If anybody has the middle child syndrome I do!

I'm the youngest of three girls and the middle one is the one who gets the most attention. I'm the "lost" child of this family.

I think it depends more on the individual personalities in the family and the dynamic of that particular group more than it does some standard paradigm.

I am the middle child in my family. I have an older sister and two younger sisters. It works cause the younger ones are twins. I do feel like i recieve less attention and sometimes have breakdowns and emotional/ mental stress. I think it exists.

Yes, it often does exist, but it doesn't have to be a bad thing. I was a middle child but was aware most of my young life that I was different and also treated differently. I chose to overcome all of that and resolved to be my own person and not allow past circumstances to dictate my life.

Anything to complain about....

There is probably a Top child and bottom child syndrome too.

There has to be some reason, their life isn't as good as their counterparts.
