Be assertive in doing your job. Try this little trick at home first. Take a deep breath and project your voice from your diaphragm. It will help you to be heard without yelling and sound more confident and in control. It can be hard to be promoted. (I was a team leader in the Army. I got put in charge of the people I had been partying with the week before.) The trick is to understand that there is a time for work and a time for play and to enforce that. While in air cadets, you are a leader and as long as you are a fair leader, they will respect you. Lead by example and demand excellence of yourself first.

BE assertive not agressive. It takes thought and practice. But you want people to do what you ask because they respect you, not because they fear what you can have done to them.
