Shawn Marion averages a double double as well. Marion gets 18.7 ppg & 10.1 rpg....and his double double are from his own talent & not someone elses. The ablitiy to REBOUND & the ablitiy to score. An assist depends on two players in order for it to exist. If Nash's teammates baskets doesn't fall then it's not an assist...and Marion is a better defender then Nash. Marion averages 2.1 spg & 1.5 bpg., while Nash average 0.7 spg & 0.1 bpg. Marion also averages more minutes 38.47, while Nash averages 35.17.
Nash is more injury prone then Marion(since 2000 Marion's rookie year he's played 591, but if he had been a starter his rookie year he'd had more games, since 2000 Nash only played 576 games). Anyways, Marion does well with offense, REBOUNDING, DEFENSE, plays more games, and plays more minutes. While Nash only does well on offense, plays less games, & playes less minutes.
So Marion clearly does more for the Suns then Nash! Offense is good but DEFENSE wins championships!

Why are ppl forgetting that Marion was a great player way before Nash.Nash did not make Marion who he is Shawn Marion Made Marion he's the one who works for his rebounds, blocks, steals,he's the one who hits his shots.he's the great defender.Give Marion credit for the job he's done, don't give it to Nash. And when Marion was out hurt you can tell they missed him.So without Marion the Suns wouldn't be as good.

Nash makes everyone around him better. Nash has missed 4 games this year (if I'm not mistaken) and they are 1-3 without him. He finds the open man, he makes the right passes and make the right decision at the right time. Now if they didn't have Marion then they wouldn't be as good but without Nash they are just another team in the NBA. When you got a point guard (or any player) that makes everyone around him better then they help more. Marion has always been a great player but look what Nash does.
Go Suns!!

The key flaw in your thinking is they need each other to be successful in the game. One man teams lose (see Kobe) and with Nash in the game it opens up less double teaming on Marion. Marion would be first to tell you that Nash is key to making the team run. Because guy it is a team game. The winning without Nash is harder because his whole game is about his team winning. Marion knows this and if you really research comments you will actually find they appreciate one another. So instead of looking to find why one should be picked over the other maybe you should be thanking God you have both on your favorite team.

Nash is the reason Marion is doing as well as he is! Marion is a very dynamic player, a fantasy owner's dream, but nash is the one who the offense runs through, he's so dangerous that he draws double teams so that leaves people open, the suns are very unselfish and move the ball around a lot so people are wide open, marion has SO many open dunks, layups, shots, and it's because of Nash, nash is probably the one point guard that nobody wants to guard, even T-Mac said he would rather guard Wade, Lebron or Kobe over Nash. Marion is a great all around player but Nash is a leader on the court and runs the whole offense, you ask anyone who you would rather have to start your team, they would chose nash

Marion is a better player. However, Steve Nash does much more for the Suns. The stats aren't it. Even Marion would admit it. Marion does everything, but without Nash, the Suns have nothing. Nash makes stellar plays. I agree that Marion is better, but without Nash running the show, Phoenix is just your average team.
Obviously you like stats. Basketball isn't just about stats though.

Are you retarded or just stupid? The suns don't win without him because nobody else can create their own shot, and Marion gets like 11 ppg ithout nash opposed to 18 ppg with nash. Just watch one suns game and you'll understand. It is not about stats. If it was, Wilt would have like15 championships, it is about winning.

Without Nash, the Suns didnt do diddly ****. I'm not gonna say one is better than the other, because they play different positions. All I know is that before Nash came to Phoenix, they werent making the playoffs, and now they are contenders for the NBA Finals. Dont compare a PF and a PG. You dont expect a PG to get double digit rebounds, and you dont expect a PF to get double digit assists. They are different positions, so they guard different kinds of players. As long as they win, it doesnt matter "who is better".

Nash is the suns team, the suns have a .247 winning percentage without him and a .744 winning percentage with him. Nash makes all of his teamates better including Marion.
