A little over a foot long? highly doubtful. A quail egg perhaps, but not a chicken egg.

the egg eater is about 12 inches it has a hinged jaw ,that opens all the way to accomodate an egg so that it can pass into the body
Amazing to see ,because their head appears so small when the mouth is shut.
maybe a baby egg eater is 5 inches

if you mean a 5 inch long snake, then I don't believe that is possible.
Yes, snakes can open their jaws pretty wide, but a 5 inch snake would be pretty small.
