I turned on computer it said I was unprotected and at risk. I know you shouldn't turn on windows firewall when za is on so I am hesitant to turn it on.

This is what I am doing to try to turn on. Is this right I also encounter a problem trying to get zone alarm off my screen or out of the taskbar when done.

I click on icon in taskbar for zonealarm and when a box woth a stop sign on it pops up, I click on firewall. I slide the internet zone security to high (stealth mode). I slide the other button trusted zone security to high (stealth mode). I think it is on.

I then try to x it off the screeen but instead a zonealarm tip box comes up. It says to shut down zone alarm, click on zone alarm try icon (is this the box containing the words) and right click the words shut down zone alarm, but it refuses to let me click that and is stuck on the words restore zone alarm control center. Since I am afraid to click that as I don't know what it means, and don't want to click ok, I try

cancel but this just put me back to the stealth mode page and I can not get it off the screen so I have no choice but to minimize it and keep it there the whole time I am working on computer, but when I return it on, it says the firewall is shut off and I am back to square one. Please tell me how to keep it turned on and how to get the blasted thing off my taskbar. Help as I am worried. Need someone to explain in easy to understand terms as I am learning and not that savy on computers. Please help

This is a perfect example of what happens when you try to run two real time applications at the same time, they just don't play well together. You should only use one firewall, disable one and use the other and if you can't do that. Delete the Zone Alarm, I am not sure if you can delete the windows firewall. Go to the Microsoft website and type (windows firewall) in the search box and see what it tells you. Good Luck!

Reset your firewall to the default setting and start over. You do not want to run without knowing you are protected.
