Grass and other green plants have a chemical called chlorophyll , and its special structure allows it to specifically catch blue and red light. All light has energy, and chlorophyll absorbs the colors that have the correct energy to help power the plant’s machinery. The plant can then turn carbon dioxide and water into glucose, a sugar. The leftover light, mostly green, bounces off and reaches our eyes; since there’s a lot of chlorophyll in plants, we see them as being green.

Grass is green because the chlorophyll in the stems absorb various wavelengths of light (to convert into energy, see photosynthesis), but they dont use the green part of the spectrum. Hence the leaves reflect the green light (it isnt 100% green light, but you get my drift).

chlorophyll, the same as trees. Chlorophyll is a green cemical that produces only when it is warm enoug. Therefore, grass starts growing green again in the spring. The chlorophyll stops producing when it is too cold.

Because of the chlorophyll. That is what converts light, water, and carbon dioxide into sugar needed by the plant to survive. In addition, this process of photosynthesis gives off oxygen that is released into the atmosphere.

1) chlorophyll
2) leaves absorb every color of the visible light spectrum but reflect the color green so that we process it as the color green
