Not enough mass or Hydrogen for atomic fission. It needs more heat and pressure to produce the nuclear bombs needed to become a sun.

A sun is a huge mass of hydrogen and helium.
The mass is so huge that a fusion reaction is possible, because it is more important than the critic mass.

The mass of Jupiter is nothing compare with the Sun.

there just wasn't enough mass of hydrogen to initiate fusion (not fission!). You need a LOT of hydrogen to create a star. What happens is that the hydrogen gets compressed under it's own gravity, heats up due to the compression, and if the temperature goes above 1kev (or about 100,000,000 C), fusion can begin.

Jupiter has only about 1/1,000,000 the amount of mass needed to become a star.

It isn't a ball of burning gases and it's gravitatioal pull isn't strong. It's not a star, it's a planet.
