Ranma 1/2. Although, granted, he does spend an exceptional amount of time at a girl... but I digress. I would suggest Flame of Recca. It's by the same mangaka as MAR.
Summary from Wikipedia:
"Flame of Recca is about a highschool student named Hanabishi Recca, who aspires to be a ninja and is obsessed with anything ninja-related. After meeting a girl named Sakoshita Yanagi, whom he acknowledged to be his princess (姫 hime), and a mysterious woman named Shadow (影子 Kage Hōshi), who apparently attacked him for no reason at all, he finds that he not only comes from a long-dead ninja clan of 400-years past, he also can control his personal Flame. Recca and his friends (Ishijima Domon, Kirisawa Fuuko, Mikagami Tokiya, Koganei Kaoru) must grow stronger in order to protect Yanagi from being taken by Kurei (紅麗) and his adoptive father, the evil Mori Kouran, who wants eternal life, and believes that Yanagi's mysterious healing power is the key to it."

Elfen Lied definately. It's romance, gore, and drama all packed into 13 episodes. It's also got some funny parts. But it's really sad! I cried at the last episode!

You can watch it on youtube.com or buy it at Best Buy, i saw it there. And the man charater is a boy named Kouta.

Or Chrno Crusade. That's pretty scary. Also on Youtube.com

The main character in an anime being a man or boy is called seinen.

Try the Dragon Ball series. The main character is a man, it is a comedy/ martial arts/ action anime. I really love it Dragon Ball, Dragon ball Z, and Dragon Ball GT are all the same series. It starts with Dragon Ball and ends with Dragon Ball GT. The entire collection is really worth having. I know I don't regret getting it.

If you like things along those lines then you should definitely check out Buso Renkin(sometimes Busou Renkin)
I've seen all of the series that you've listed except ueki and am currently finishing this one. It's pretty much along the lines of bleach and naruto where the main character has to build skills while moving through enemies of differing strengths etc.

You should check it out and see if it perks your interest. you can even view it on youtube to make sure that it's what you're looking for.

DN Angel would be my first suggestion.

It centers around a 14 year old boy (Daisuke Niwa) who suddenly realises, all the males of his family (grandfather, great grandfather) had an Alter-Ego named Dark -- It's confusing, but this Dark person morphs from the persons body, and Dark is a legendary theif, and in time you get to realise the alterior motive to all this.
But it contains Action, and Magic, and a bit of Romance.

Second suggestion, FullMetal Alchemist.

Centers around a teenage boy (Edward Elric) who uses Alchemy -- In this apparant world, Alchemy is used to make objects, fight, and etc.
His main goal is to find or create the Philosophers Stone, since when he was a little kid, him and his little brother Alphonse used alchemy to try and ressurect their dead mother, however the law of alchemy is "To gain something, something of the equal value must be sacrifised" so in doing so, he loses his little brother Alphonse, aswell as his left leg.

When he comes around, he realises what he's created is not his mother, but a deformed lifeless being. And his brother has been sacrifised, so he is willing to sacrifise himself to bring back his brother and in a last ditch attempt trys to fix his brothers soul to a suit of armour.
He does this at the cost of his arm..

And with the philosophers stone it is rumoured the law of equal trade in alchemy is not applied, so he sets on a journey with his little brother to retreive the philosophers stone so that he and his brother can return to their normal bodies.

- Those are the only ones I know of... I'd reccomend Tsubasa Chronicles... 3 guys and 1 girl main characters... comedy, martial art, magic... So yeah, I doubt it'd be what your looking for but hey, it's a good anime ^_^

Ranma 1/2. well, the main char is actually a man but he fell into a cursed spring so when he's drenched with cold water, he becomes a girl. it's mainly about his relationship with his flash-fire temper fiance, and his desire ot turn back to normal. really interesting storylines.

Oh Man that's easy except for the magic part. watch G.T.O(Great Teacher Onizuka) it has all the elsments except for magic...But trust me you won't miss it plus she'll definately like the main character and it mixes comedy, martial arts, drama, and action really well.
