It isn't your age that determines your salary but how skilled you are and how much of a following you have and are you renting the booth from the salon or are just an employee.

If clients only want to see you...that's leverage.

Are you the main Stylist or the hair washer there is a difference.

But to answer your question if you are just starting as a hairdresser you should fairly be in $ 20/hr range.

Hairdressers usually rent booths in salons. They pay monthly rent and for their supplies. They charge accordingly.

Unless you work at one of those cheapo haircutting places. I would assume, as in every other employment area, your hourly rate would depend upon your experience.

Did they not teach this to you in cosmetology school?

Not a lot as they say you should depend on tips. After all you expect cuts in your line of work!!
Get trained then go mobile and earn what you are worth.
