Oregon does not have any local colleges that offer MLS degrees at an in-state University. Portland Community college does offer some classes in library science, but for the more advance degree, you will probably have to go to one of the online Universities. I personally can speak for the courses at University of Montana as being very good. Another highly recommended school is the University of Washington (excellent school).

Because there are not a lot of places in the state that offer any classes in library science, many of the library assistant positions do not require more than a basic library course. Smaller libraries then promote up as you gain experience and take online or distance ed classes.

If your eventual goal is employment in Oregon a librarian, attending a school on the west coast is recommended.
