My 4 week old son has an extremely weak cry for the last 2 days. Almost sounds like he is losing his voice... is this something to worry about?? He is eating normally, pees frequently, but BM's are a lot less than they were before.

Aww Congrats on your little bundle bun!

he is still regulating himself to the new world. I would not be too concerned. he might just be a little constipated. i know the main thing attached to "weak crying" is botulism but since he is still on formula or breast milk that should not be the case. If he does not have a REAL good BM in the next day i would make an appointment with his doctor. (its about time for his 1 month well care check anyway right?) one of my daughters had the same problem when i could not breast feed her because they wanted her to gain weight (preemie) so she was put on a special formula. the problem is the powder consitpated her something awful but the ready to feed kept her going regular (with a little bit of apple juice in some water) - check with your ped before giving juice. most dont say to give juice until about 6 months but i was able to give her a half of a ounce to a ounce a day for consitpation. (we also give the kids bottled water... some say not too.. but it helps with bowels and my ped does not object)

As long as he is still eating, peeing, and not running a fever, he should be ok... and as long as he is still passing stool (once or twice a day) he should also be fine. that might be normal for him. my ped told me that was 'regular' for some babies. With my 7 month old daughter she passes poop once a day... maybe twice but mostly once about the same time. she seems content so we leave her be. if she does not have one during the day i add a little prune juice to her water first thing in the morning so the daycare can have a suprise by the time i pick her up in the eve. lol

i would give it one more day and then call your ped.

congrats again!

Have you had your 1 month check up yet? I wouldn't be too worried though as long as he's eating and going to the bathroom. There are days were we are more tired than others and there are some days that we go less often as others too. Could he be going through a growth spurt or has just finished and is now just exhausted!

If this really concerns you make an apt with your dr and get things checked out! Better safe than sorry! Best of luck and I hope it all works out. Enjoy your little man!
