I mean the Little Mermaid,The Little Match Girl and many other they are so sad that they make me cry.....why do you think he did that,did he actually think it was ok to read such sad stories to your kids(i did and my daughter also cried,specially with the little match girl)

I think this is a very good question, but not only H.C. Andersen wrote sad stories , but most of the TV pictures for children have been for long time very sad (f.e. Heidi, Marcos, etc.). Some things have changed in this sense, but on the other side there is a lot of agressivity that children are seeing now, that does not seem to be good either. It always represents the way we are living.

Its "realistic" Its about the sather parts of life and death. Astrid lindgren wrote a couple of simular books too (I dont know their title in english, sorrry!). Such a story is a bad story if childrens dont kry, arent they? Johan
