it was clear that there was intent to injure, maybe not to break hansbrough's nose, but definitely to rough him up...when the ball leaves hansbrough's hands, henderson has more than enough time to stop himself or at least try to avoid hansbrough, but he makes no attempt whatsoever
also, i am probably one of the few unc fans with any respect for coach k, but the more i think about his comment about having hansbrough in the game the more i think this may have been partly his doing, even though i do have the utmost respect for him and really hope it wasn't him

Fer sure!! it was the last seconds of a fierce rivalry game and Hansbrough was gonna jam it. There was intent to foul and even intent to hard foul him. The broken nose, no, I truly don't think so. You can say the same thing coach K asks, why was he in the game, because a) he was shooting the foul shots, b) he's one of the better foul shooters on the team. And if he asks that, why was Henderson even in the game? I guarantee if Duke takes their starters out, Carolina does too. But, it was only a 12 point lead.. a missed foul shot and a quick 3 and another foul.. who knows what. Unlikely, but possible... Reggie Miller scored what? 11 in 8 seconds? As for everyone saying he didn't mean to foul... what do you really expect them to say? Oh, hell yea it was intentional, I told him to go in there and rough him up but good!! Be realistic, that statement is just asking for a fine or more. He was going to stop the dunk, but had no intention of breaking the guys nose. The inadvertent elbow to the head may even have been a foul that required the ejection, who knows.

OF COURSE it was an Intentional foul. anyone that has played basketball also knows that this is part of the game. Coaches have always taught players if you are going to foul make sure the ball doesnt go in. Add that to the intense rivalry and you will always have situations like this. T.H knows that this is part of the game as does Henderson. Henderson deserves to sit out one game and its not like its the first time a basketball player has had his nose broken. It will also add a little for more fuel to the fire if they meet again.
You could clearly see as Henderson was told to leave the court he didnt object or act surprised because he knew he was guilty.
Hansbourough is still lucky to be able to play. You never know when your last play is. this is a fact of any sport and life. So play hard.

The foul was intentional, the break was not. This is the biggest rivalry in the ACC. No loss of love there. Coach K is smart is shifting the blame as to why the players were in that late, but due to the heat in the game it was hard the foul that was given. Does anyone not think that at some point a foul will be returned in favor? These things do not get forgotten in the ACC.

As a basketball player for about 30yrs. it still is hard for me to really tell if Hendersons foul was meant in harm.Sometimes you are ready to commit a hard foul and things go wrong .He look as if someone below him gave him a dump which in turn cause the downward motion of his arms. I looked at this 100 times and im a tarheel fan .The only thing that i can come up with is why was he commiting a hard fool in that part of the game they were beat.P.S.Basketball is a contact sport 2nd behind football things are going to happen.Been there and done that.

Yes. You can see the hate and intention on Henderson's face when he commits the foul, and it is much too forceful to simply block a shot. Henderson does not attempt to help Hansbrough up, like a normal person would have if it were an accident. I think Henderson, and the excuses made by Coach K are bullsh*t, as is the commentary by Billy Packer about the incident.

yes it was intentional. The ball was nowhere near Hansbrough. Suspend this idiot for the rest of the year. It was horrible and i think its even worse that Coach K defended his players by putting it back on Carolina. How can you defend that? Also i saw comments he had about the guy from G Mason who was suspended for a punch he threw. He said that it is inexcusable and a coach should never defend that. But look what hes doing now. He is such a hypocrite.

It was obvious. The ball was too far away for him to use that line. Everyone is saying that T.H. should not have been in there but he was shooting free throws. Duke is also very infamous for overcoming deficits in final minutes of the past. Billy Packer always goes against Carolina. I guess he is bitter because he used to get his *** waxed by the heels when he was playing too.

It was one of those "oops, I didn't mean to hurt you" moves. He clearly dropped his elbow and knew full well and sure what would happen. He has plenty of awareness on the court to know what went on.
But regardless of being intentional or not, it is great for the rivalry among both players and fans.

I think his intention wasn't to break his nose but just foul him hard.
