The govement can generate more mass information then privately owned companys who get richer off of the public.

How many Movies are played over and over, and the public pays for it now.

I still believe this will happen anyway.

Nothing is ever good when it's Government controlled. Why would you want it that way?

Are you saying the government should own the cable and sattelite mediums and broadcasters would use the media much like the airwaves?
Hmm.
I don't think it would ever get off the ground. The cable and sattelite companies would never stand for it.
Besides, the government would then apply the same censorship to the shows being broadcast on cable and sattelite that they do for open air broadcasters.
I certainly do like the idea of totally free TV though. Just not so much control of it by the government.

Anything the government does does is NEVER FREE. The cost are multiplied by the number of worthless political appointees that get to use Your tax dollars to do nothing. Then tax dollars are spent to check on the checkers, like Congress is doing now so think twice about the elected officials having more excuses to use Your money..

I predict that in the future......
(I am totally not a psycho i mean ic ....)

that companies will band together to bring T.V.'s into our homes and pay for the satellite's so they can broadcast commercials at us 24/7 on a menu scroll's or for half of the T.V. Maybe even let us download the programs we wish to watch after force feeding us a large number of commercials...

NO for strict government control. Guidence yes but no control. Free is good but who would pay for it? Do you know what it costs to run a TV transmitting station?
