A friend and I helped stop someone being attacked in Hull by getting the police there, using my mobile phone. I've found it useful in quite a few emergencies; I won't bore you with the details. They're also useful for work situations when you have to travel, as I frequently do.
It does drive me potty on the train, though, when everyone under the age of 25 whips out their miniscule ''blinged up'' phone and starts deciding on a new ringtone at a the highest volume they can find ... AAARGH! Yes, I use mine in public when I need to, but I see no need to deafen every poor s0d within a 5 mile radius.

Practically everyone who has a mobile and has ever been on any form of public transport or in any public building. I was once on a long journey on a train when a woman spent the entire trip (over 3 hours) phoning people to tell them she was on a train - nothing more, nothing less, and certainly nothing important!

I once was involved in an accident where I struck a deer. Guess I should have called my husband on our cell phone to let him know, but you know, I never once thought of it even though it was there. Instead I got out, checked the car for damage, and when I saw it was okay to drive I drove the rest of the way home. I think it's very seldom that we actually NEED a cell phone. I personally dislike them (only had one because my husband was the one who insisted that we get them).

Yacking about any and everything, right down to my uni work.
It saves time with the odd calls, and ultimately, I use my mobile some at home as well.

I have a mobile which I carry in case of emergency (ie. car breaks down, lose purse etc).
I never use it. I hate those people who talk loudly into their phones on the bus when I am trying to wind down on the journey home after work. All they ever say is "I'm on the bus. I will see you in 20 minutes". Its hardly vital information.

i have on countless times, like when I have missed the last bus from City Centre and need to get my dad to pick me up and stuff like that. but in general, no, i just tend to use my free minutes to havbe a random chat with mates when i'm on the bus bored out of my mind, or when I'm in tesco, and phone home to check how much change I can keep or which brand of oven chips I was supposed to pick up, or when I am meeting friends and phone to let them know i am in a traffic jam, which is very common in Rochdale.

What!!?? Are you nuts!! Until these gadgets came along we would be in danger of buying the wrong type of green beans without calling home and asking such important questions! They've been an absolute godsend I tell you!!!!
