Why do we have the sterotypes we have? Ex: prep, goth, emo, nerd, geek, whore, slut, etc. Where do we come up with these, how does nearly everyone know what they mean, yet why don't we actually KNOW what they mean? And what DO they really mean?

Steriotyping is just assuming!!! As for goth, well goth is more in the sense of how someone is dressed, usually with a midevil look dressed in black in appearance, so thats a discription which is a fact, but to say that goth are bad and have evil minds is steriotyping, cause that would not be true.
Emo's are emotional people so to speak, but who's deciding on who's emotional? The person who's making that assumption might be worst off then the person their talking about. To say that all Emo cut theirselves, is steriotyping again, because they all don't do that.
Geeks are bad either and in fact their more smarter in certian areas then I am. If I'm having trouble with my PC, I sure would like to know a computer geek to fix it.
As for a whore, it's a woman who sleeps with whoever she wants to sleep with! Just because a woman is seen talking with many different men, doesn't make her a whore, if it did, then maybe men are pigs, because us men will talk to whoever, but it does tell me she has a social life. Many time after a break up and our female partner is seen talking with a male, many guys label her as a whore, and in reality we're sore losers. I could go on, but I hope I said enough to get my point across.
