Do you believe kids with cell phones are spoiled rotten brats??? Someone asked a cell phone question and someone made that ludicrous/ignorant/judgmental statement.

I think if a child is responsible and knows only to use the phone in emergencies then he or she ca hae one as long as it is prepaid and under 30 bucks.Cell phones can be used to save lifes or contact your parents or police if you are in trouble and there is o phone around, here is a good example.

They had a case on Americas Most Wanted where two 16 year old girls were snatched at gunpoint and while the man who snatched them ad raped them was taking a pee in the bushes not far from the van in the middle of the woods one of the girls quickly messaged her mother with her cell phone telling her what was happening, the girl was able to message her mom where they were and the police were called and arrived within 30 minutes and both girls survived.

If this 16 year old did not have a cell phone to contact her mother both girls would of probably of been killed. Come on this guy made no attempt to hide his face and had a gun, do you really think he was going to let two girls who clearly saw his face go so they could rat him out??

If the girl had not had a cell and messaged her mom they would of both likely of been shot and killed.

Just because a child has a cell phone does not mean they are spoiled rotten, many teens get jobs and buy the cell phones themselves so how is it a kid is spoiled if they are paying for the cell phone themselves?

I think it is very judgmental to call a child spoiled rotten just because they have the cell phone, for all people know he or she could be paying for it themselves by having a job or doing chores around the house or getting good grades.

My 14 year old cousin has a nokia phone that you buy a card for every month and she only gets a card if she does things around the house ad keeps her grades up.

Those 16 year old girls were very lucky to of had a cell phone and get time to use it , I think all kids should have one incase something like that were to happen. Kids are beig snatched everyday and perhaps if they all had cell phones more of them would come out of the crime unharmed

lets face it....... the first reason people get their kids phones is so that they can use them in an emergency or you can find them at anytime. but what happens is - the kids run up the phone bill by talking to their friends all the time or text messaging. my friends kids got to the point where they wouldn't even answer the phone when she would call them to find out where they were or what ever. but parents continue to pay crazy amounts of money instead of taking the phones away. i believe its better to have one cell phone and if the child is going out somewhere then he/she can take the phone with them for emergencies only. but the rest of the time the phone should be put away. they can use the home phone.
