Should i send a letter to thank you for the offer. I am supposed to start working on March 12.

You might send a "thank you"/ "verification e-mail to the hiring manager or your new boss. Unless you have something from the company in writing already that you signed, then you need not send anything.

If you only have a verbal confirmation, then yes you can send the e-mail stating you are happy to accept the company's offer and that you will be starting at X am, for your records and theirs.

Seems pointless. The person hiring you will be able to judge how excited you are soon enough. Your attitude at work is way more important than anything you could put in a letter.

The idea might have some merit if the person who hired you does not work in the same building.

not a bad idea, if you do make it short. you are in so now think towards next goals: work hard, make friends at work

make sure you have covered your A-- by getting offer in writing before quitting old job.

No thank you letters.

If you know when you are supposed to start working (as mentioned above) then you show your "thank-you" by coming in on time, dressed correctly, and prepared to work.
