At my job there are two types of women 1) the ones who complain that men bother them all the time and 2) the ones who say men always ignore them. So, I'm just curious how often would you say that "strange men" approach you at work, on the street, etc. to try and talk to you or ask you out (per week or month)? Please mention your age (age range) and race. Just want to see if there is a pattern.

These are very likely the same type of women - most women feel they are bothered by the men they would never be interested in, and feel they are ignored by the men they *are* interested in. I think men feel this way too, it's very natural.

It may also depend on where they work or travel; a woman on the subway, no matter what her age, race, or level of beauty, will get hassled a lot more than a woman driving in her car.

Also, I've noticed it has nothing to do with what she's wearing - I can be all dolled up in going-out clothes, or in loose jeans and a sweatshirt, and some guys will stare at you like dogs at a butcher shop, regardless.

I get stared at pretty often (but define "often") and usually catch at least a few a day staring at me but I don't necessarily pay attention to men so it could be more.. who knows; I don't get exactly approached because I don't make myself at all approachable. I don't smile, don't dress that well (as they're baggy and casual), don't look like I'm trying to look good (w/ make-up, accessories, styling, etc.), don't make eye contact for just the hell of it unless I'm addressing someone; and I'm always hanging with my Mom if I'm out; mind my own business, etc.. I've often been complimented on my attractive face and do feel attractive but currently not making myself approachable.
I'm 20, Asian.

I don't understand "all the time" as to some people that is only "once a day" as for others, it's much more often.

White, female, 24. I don't get approached very often at all. I believe it's the way I carry myself, though. I think that rule applies to all women: how they carry themselves indicates confidence and approachability. I try to make myself look unapproachable, though... my husband isn't big into competition.

I'm 33, black, in Austin. I get stopped once a week or so. Sometimes more often, depending on the weather (the hotter it is, the more I'm outdoors)

If anyone tried to get fresh with this 65 year old my knee would have a mind of
its own. My cane with the ice prongs on it would give him the message as well.
