Thomas Jones asked for a trade. He was up for free agency after this year anyway, and he was a parasite in the locker room. The Bears are going to rely more on Benson now, and don't forget that they still have Adrian Peterson who could be a starter on many teams. Also, they were able to move up 30 slots in the draft. It was a good move by the Bears.

The day they drafted Benson and he cried because everyone thought he would fall farther than where he was actually drafted and he was happy he went fifth overall, they should have traded Cedric. Jones would not allow them to pull him from the starting spot...he just plain outworked Benson in every phase of the game. He earned the respect ofhis teammates where Benson came off as arrogant. Cedric held out of camp that year and has never caught up. Now with these injuries he's behind the eight ball again. Jones is a warrior and was way more respected than Benson will ever be. This trade will shake the Bears to it's foundations as it's clear hard work means nothing to the front office. Thankfully, they have Adrian Peterson (the other one) in Chicago who served as an excellent replacement when both the other RBs were hurt 2 years ago.

Its not exactly a bad move for the Bears. Adrian Peterson (the one on the Bears, not the top 5 pick in the upcoming draft) was a dominant Division I-AA RB who could probably be a superstar if he got a chance in the NFL. They're also spending a fortune on Cedric Benson, so they need to let him play.

They did get ripped off in the deal though. It's about as big a ripoff as the Ravens pulled on the Titans last year when they got Steve McNair for a 4th round pick. To merely move up from the late 2nd round to the early 2nd round is not a good move. However, its a buyers market in RBs this year, as Willis McGahee, Corey Dillon, Jamal Lewis, Dominick Rhodes and many others are available in free agency or through trades, plus the star RBs in the draft (Adrian Peterson, MarShawn Lynch, Michael Bush, Tony Hunt). A RB really isn't worth very much right now.

The bears traded jones this year on a similar time as they could nevertheless get somthing for him, he could have been a unfastened agent after the season and he could have long gone someplace else because of the fact he needs to be the function lower back and that wasnt going to take place. He possibly could have been yet another unhappy participant interior the locker room this year, So the bears moved up extremely some spots interior the 2d around nevertheless have benson and jones is chuffed.

I wouldnt be too mad. First you got to remeber the bears went from the 63rd overall pick up to the 37th overall pick. According to the value chart the Bear basically got early 3rd round value for thomas jones. In other words inorder for the bear to go from 63 pick to 37 pick they would of had to package an early 3rd round pick (4th or 5th pick in the 3rd round) in the with their 2nd round pick to move up to 37.

Thats not bad value for a running back who is gonna be an unrestricted free agent next year, and most likely not going to resign with the team next year, due to cedric being there. Bears I think were just trying to get some value while they could. Bear fans would rather have TJ for one more year And get nothing in return next year or trade him this year and get an early 3rd round pick for him? Thats basically the decision the bear organization made when they traded him.

I am not a bears fan so I am happy that they got rid of their leading rusher of the past three seasons. Benson may be able to replace him but he does not have the burst that Jones has when going through the holes. The bears will miss Jones a lot next season.

No im not. Jones wanted to be moved and they have a very capable backup in benson. It was a lopsided trade in my opinion but the bears will not do any worse without him next year.

No. I'm not mad, he only has one year left on his contract so we may as well get something out of him before we lose him next year and get nothing. Plus, Benson is supposed to be the future, we may as well give him his full time shot.

Da Bears!

NOPE.... CEDRIC NEED TO EARN HIS MONEY IF HE FAIL ADRIAN PETERSON IS A PRETTY GOOD BACK THAT HAS THE ABILITY TO PICK UP THE SLACK... I'M SURE THAT CHICAGO WILL PICK UP A QUALITY RB THROUGH FREE AGENCY OR THE DRAFT...
