I just read pride and prejudice and reeeeally liked it. But I have a question - I thought that Mr. Darcy was the "pride" and Lizzy was the "prejudice" but I read somewhere that it was the other way around. can somebody please tell me which one is right and explain???

Funny, I've mulled that one over a few times myself (By the way, GREAT book, huh?)

I finally decided, in my opinion, that they both had both qualities. They both had pride in themselves, but both had preconceived notions and prejudice against the others' social class. I think if the scales HAD to be tipped toward one or the other, I would say that Lizzy was more about the pride, and Mr. Darcy was the more prejudiced one. But then again, pride stood in the way of both of them making right decisions.

Great question - I may have to dust it off and read it again! Sorry I can't give you a clear cut answer...

Actually Darcy was the Pride and the Prejudice. Lizzy made him realize the error of his thoughts and ways. Love!!!

My favorite book of all time. I have watched the movie way to many times to count!!

Glad to hear Jane Austin is still a fav.

I've just finished the novel as well and I think the "pride" and "prejudice" was evident in both Darcy and Elizabeth. You can say that Elizabeth exemplify the "pride" aspect in that she prided herself in her accuracy of her perceptions of others and Darcy as "prejudice" in that he was prejudice against the lower social class and connections. However, "pride" and "prejudice" are intimately connected, in the end it could possibly go either way. Elizabeth's prejudice was removed through her reflection of Darcy's letter and Darcy's pride through his treatment towards the Gardiners.

Both Darcy and Lizzy were "pride and prejuduce"

They both were very proud people and they both had a prejudice against each other.

it's both i think. Elizabeth was prejudiced against Darcy because he was rich and Darcy was prejudiced against Elizabeth because she was poor. Darcy's pride got in the way of his loving Elizabeth and Elizabeth's pride got in the way of owning up that she was in love with him.
peace
