Weather In Egypt In August

2016-11-05 21:30:26 · answer #3 · answered by Anonymous · 0 0

It is the hot end of summer.
Some years very hot, last year it was super hot.
But,I prefer Egyptian heat to the heat in Australia it doesn't sting your skin like here.
I base myself on the West bank of Luxor for about 4mths of the year, doing some reseach and working.
At the end of July last year it was 49c degrees one day and I was in the Valley of The Kings. That was hot!
It gets so extremly hot there because of its unique geological structure.
By the way,the West Bank of Luxor,Gezira el bairat, is absolute paradise, the real Egypt is right there.
If you have a chance come over for a day and look around, the ferry is only 1LE.
So many options of things to do,or some great spots for just doing nothing.
I always recommend a 6am start (latest) for sightseeing in summer, you also miss all the big tour coaches that way!
By 1pm or 2pm its sleepy time.
I always say we have two days in one in Egypt, as another day starts at nightfall and goes on till 2or 3am.
You need a hotel with good reliable a/c.It is a must!
Fans are just not enough.
Remember to drink lots of water, If possible bring one of those insulated water bottles.
When I am in Egypt, especially Luxor I fill my water bottle up and put it in the freezer part of the fridge overnight.
By the time you want to use it (after about 15min). It has melted enough to get beautiful cold water.
If you have a reasonable hotel they will do the same for you, if you only have a mini fridge in your room.
Take a hat or wear loose scalfs around your head. It is easy to succumb to heat stroke especially if you overdo it,and don't keep up the water.
Leave the synthetics at home if you can.
Cotton is best or at least mainly cotton & synthetic mix.
Stick to looser tops and pants, tight jeans are a drag in the heat.
Anything over factor 8 can be hard to get in sunscreen by the end of summer,so bring some if you are fair skinned.
I love the Egyptian heat,it is a dry heat and much easier to take than the tropics.
You are going to really love Egypt, so be prepared!

hot in fact very hot, been there several times then and it is usually up in the top 30's and low 40's it really is very very hot. but it is a dry heat not humid. Even at night its still up in the high 20's when you walk down the street you can feel the heat radiating off the pavement stones. But if you put up with that and take a high factor suncream and stay in a hotel with air conditioning its bearable. like i said i have stayed there several times at that time of the year.an di have still been out to look at the sites etc. slightly cooler on the coast, specially at night. i hope you enjoy it..... i love the place

I went in early September a few years back and it was really hot, 40 degrees plus most days. It is also very hot in most of the temples etc, but it is also quite quiet and non busy as a lot of people stay away in the hot weather.

Very hot. Around 105f in the daytime. Sometimes the nights are hot too but sometimes a breeze is blowing that feels good. I guess that's why it's just as crowded all night as in the daytime. (in summer anyway) Most places aren't air conditioned either.

hot depends on what you are coming for, if its to sit in the sun forget it it will crisp you thats if you can sit in it for long enouh.
we have air conditioning on most of the time or a fan, the best places like Luxor & Aswan is hottest, but the coaches and most of the transport have air con so's the hotels

boiling hot. take sun cream, drink plenty of bottled mineral water, avoid going out between noon and 3pm, night life is great anyway in egypt during the summer, and enjoy! it's a great place to be.
