Being in retail, i have people try and bargain with me all the time. "Oh this top is $20, you'll give it to me for $10 right" Half the time in a clothing store there is absolutely nothing we can do. I'm sorry the girls will get fired if they give you a deal. Leave them alone. Unless it is an independently run business. Chances are there is nothing the person can do and it is not worth your breath.

Yes, but only on certain items. Soda for example I will not bargain shop because Pepsi is usually on sale & I'd rather have coke.

In the U.S., not really the custom...unless it is from an individual or items are not clearly marked with a price. Then I might.
Overseas I have haggled a bit.
